The Task Force membership shall meet, at minimum, the requirements of cybersecurity planning committee as defined in Public Law 117-58, Sec. 70612.

Membership requirements are based on and conform to Public Law 117-58. In summary, membership shall consist of the following: 

  • The Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), or equivalent official of the eligible entity;
  • If the eligible entity is a state (including territories), then representatives from counties, cities, and towns within the jurisdiction of the eligible entity;
  • Institutions of public education and health within the jurisdiction of the eligible entity; and
  • As appropriate, representatives of rural, suburban, and high-population jurisdictions.

At least one half of the representatives of the Cybersecurity Planning Committee must have professional experience relating to cybersecurity or information technology.

Entity Powers and Duties, Activity Summary

The Task Force will seek to form consensus towards key strategies and tactics for mitigating cybersecurity risk in Minnesota by implementing and refining the Whole-of-State Cybersecurity Plan. 

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

The Minnesota Cybersecurity Task Force is formed to advise the Commissioner of Minnesota IT Services and state leaders on the development, implementation, and continued advancement of a Whole State approach to cybersecurity.

This all-encompassing effort seeks to bring together cybersecurity experts and leaders from all levels of public sector and tribal governments alongside private sector experts to address critical cybersecurity needs for the State of Minnesota.

The Task Force will continue to advance Minnesota’s first Whole of State Cybersecurity Plan, and ensure Minnesota maximizes federal grant funding for cybersecurity, as well as continues to identify additional strategies and tactics to mitigate cybersecurity risk across the state.
