One public member as defined in section 214.02, five registered naturopathic doctors who are residents of the state, and one licensed physician or osteopath with expertise in natural medicine.

Section 15.059, subdivision 2, does not apply to this section. Members shall serve two-year terms, and shall serve until their successors have been appointed. The council shall select a chair from its membership.

Entity Powers and Duties, Activity Summary
The council advises the Board of Medical Practice on naturopathic doctor practice standards in application, complaint and disciplinary processes; continuing education programs; and enforcement of naturopathic practice laws; and provides for distribution of information regarding practice standards.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

The council reviews information included in applications for registration and complaints against members of the profession.  The advisory council provides professional expertise on the profession, advises the Board and staff in administration of statutes, participates in administrative and investigative processes, and makes recommendations to the Board and its Committees for resolution of disclosures on applications and complaint investigations.
