BOARD/COMMISSION:  Minnesota Geospatial Advisory Council

The council members must represent a cross-section of organizations that includes counties, cities, universities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, federal and state agencies, tribal governments, surveyors and other organizations that benefit from geospatial technology.

In addition to the appointed members, the council will include the state chief geospatial information officer as a non-voting, ex-officio member. In the event that qualified applications are not received for any of the target categories, the appointing authority reserves the right to substitute an At-Large representative for that category.

This council, authorized by legislation, advises the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo) about issues, policies, priorities, and investments needed to improve services statewide through the coordinated, affordable, reliable, and effective use of geospatial technology. This is a policy-oriented council that is supplemented and supported by work teams and technical committees.

Members shall serve a term of two years and are expected to facilitate two-way communication between their sector and the council.
The Minnesota Geospatial Information Office must provide administrative support for the Geospatial Advisory Council.
