The Commission has fifteen board members; ten are at-large members and up to five are Regional Advisory Committee representatives. To become a Regional Advisory representative to the Commission, candidates need to have been appointed by the Director of the Minnesota Department of Human Services Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing State Services Division and have completed a separate application process. At least 50 percent of the members must include persons who are deaf, deafblind, and hard-of-hearing, and at least one parent or guardian of a person who is deaf, deafblind, and hard-of-hearing. In addition to the statutory requirements, the Commission seeks to have the board reflect the racial, indigenous, ethnic, gender and cultural diversity of the state and have skills and expertise needed to support our strategic plan.

We also convene workgroups and committees to implement the board-approved strategic plan.
