Membership

One member shall be the commissioner of Labor and Industry or the commissioner's designee; one member shall be an electrical inspector; two members shall be representatives of electrical suppliers in rural areas; two members shall be master electricians, who shall be contractors; two members shall be journeyworker electricians; one shall be a registered consulting electrical engineer; two members shall be power limited technicians, who shall be technology system contractors primarily engaged in the business of installing technology circuit or systems; and one member shall be a public member.

Adopt rules, amend the National Electrical Code, final interpretations of code when submitted to the board, adopt rules to regulate electrical businesses and individual licenses and continued education.

Meeting Information

Meetings typically last: 30 min to 1.5 hours

Meeting Frequency: 4 meetings per year, held quarterly. Special meetings when necessary (approximately 1 annually).

Meetings are held at:
Department of Labor and Industry, 443 Lafayette Road North, St Paul with ability to attend remotely. Meetings will occur remotely when, per Minnesota Statutes, section 13D.021, electronic meetings are acceptable when holding an in-person meeting is “not practical or prudent because of a health pandemic or an emergency declared under Chapter 12."
