The group shall create security standards for state correctional, review inspection reports, and provide recommendations to the Commissioner of Corrections.
ACTIVITY SUMMARY
The SCFSAG has four responsibilities:
• Establish and update security audit standards for state prisons.
• Review audit reports from the Department of Corrections (DOC).
• Make critical safety and security recommendations to the DOC Commissioner.
• Report security standards to the Minnesota Legislature.
The SCFSAG helps ensure that Minnesota prisons are safer for corrections staff and incarcerated people, that facilities are adequately resourced, and that state prisons are consistent in following security standards.
