Membership
The Board of Private Detective and Protective Agent Services consists of the superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension or an assistant superintendent designated by the superintendent, and the following members appointed by the commissioner of public safety: a licensed protective agent, or qualified representative for a licensed protective agent partnership or corporation, a licensed private detective, or qualified representative for a licensed private detective partnership or corporation, and two public members.

The Licensing Committee is a two-member panel that has been delegated authority from the board to review new license applications, renewals, and license officer changes.

The Disciplinary & Complaint Committee is a two-member panel with the board's delegated authority to review disciplinary matters.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

Licensing of private detectives/investigators and protective agents/security. Certifies training courses and instructors. Responds to complaints. Imposes penalties, suspends or revokes the license of a license holder for violations of statutes and rules. Assists law enforcement with enforcing all laws and rules governing private detectives and protective agents.
